N23 Master of Women's Health
Course Introduction
Melbourne Consulting and Custom Programs, in collaboration with the Key Centre for Women's Health in Society at the University of Melbourne, and Professor Fumi Horiguchi of Keio University, Japan, offer Japanese health professionals a fully articulated suite of three postgraduate courses in Women's Health.
- The Postgraduate Certificate in Women's Health
- The Postgraduate Diploma in Women's Health
- The Master of Women's Health (by coursework)
All programs are part-time and are taught intensively over the Japanese summer holiday period each year. The programs are delivered in Japan and Australia and are taught and assessed in Japanese.

Graduate Attributes
Graduates of the Master of Women's Health will have:
- An ability to evaluate and design gender sensitive health care policies and programs
- A sophisticated understanding of the various dimensions of effective women's health practice, including health promotion
- Familiarity with major theoretical and methodological issues in qualitative and quantitative research
- An understanding of the multiple determinants of women's health
Entry Requirements
Master of Women's Health (150 points):
A recognised Bachelor?s degree or equivalent qualification in medicine, an allied health profession or social science which is recognised by the University as evidence of adequate preparation for the course plus at least one year full-time relevant documented professional work experience.
Master of Women's Health (100 points):
A recognised honours degree or equivalent qualification in medicine, an allied health profession or social science which is recognised by the University as evidence of adequate preparation for the course
OR
A recognised Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in medicine, an allied health profession or social science which is recognised by the University as evidence of adequate preparation for the course plus Postgraduate Certificate in Women?s Health at an overall standard of at least 70%.
Course Structure
The courses are based on a points structure with students required to accumulate certain number of points in order to receive an award. All programs are part-time, with up to three subjects offered intensively each year. All subjects are offered at Masters level, and students are able to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in one year, the Postgraduate Diploma in three years and the Masters degree in three to four years, depending on subjects offered each year. It is also possible to enrol in the Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma and receive full credit towards the Master of Women?s Health for all successfully completed subjects for a period of up to 10 years if graduation has not taken place.
