What is an academic transcript?
An Academic Transcript is the official record of your studies at a University. It details the courses you have completed, the awards granted and includes the majors, programs or streams you have completed. Your Academic Transcript lists all subjects undertaken with the corresponding mark and grade, arranged by the years in which the study was undertaken. It also shows your full name.
All students should have recieved an official transcript from each University at which they have been an enrolled student. The University of Melbourne requires all students to provide an original or certified copy of Academic Transcript to verify your academic history.
When can I apply for credit for previous studies?
Students applying for credit of previous study must do so at time of application.
What is a certified copy?
A certified copy is a photo of an original document, which contains the signature and official stamp of an authorised signatory.
When obtaining a certified photocopy, please ensure the following:
- The signature of the person certifying is original
- The person clarifying the document must state their title
- There is a statement to say that it is a true copy of the original document
- The certification is dated
- If it is a multi-page document, either each page must be certified or the certification statement must state the number of pages and each page must be signed by the authority.
Common titles of signatories that we accept are:
- Justice of the peace
- Member of the Police Force
- Legally qualified medical practitioner
- Pharmacist
- Manager of a Bank, Building Society or Credit Union
- Marriage Celebrant (civil or religious)
- Barrister or solicitor or a clerk to a barrister and solicitor
What is the University of Melbourne's Privacy Statement?
Information about students enrolled in a course is confidential. The School will not release any information about the student to any outside individual or organisation without the student's authority. The School will release information to government authorities such as the State or Federal Police or the Department of Immigration in accordance with the Information Privacy Act.
