Clinical Research Minor Thesis

 

Description

Research areas relating to clinical research will be chosen after consultation between the student, the coordinator and their sponsoring organisation.

Objectives

At the end of this subject, clinicians should be able to plan, design and undertake a clinical research project without supervision and be able to report their findings.

 

Pre-requisites and/or Co-requisites

Completion of subjects to Graduate Diploma level


Student Commitment


Students should expect to undertake a minimum of 480 hours research, reading, writing etc… to complete the minor research thesis successfully (part-time over 12 months, full-time over 6 months)

 

Contact Time

Approximately 40 hours of individual supervision sessions, as negotiated with the appointed supervisor, over the duration of the minor thesis.

 

Assessment

One presentation (20%) and minor thesis totalling between 10,000 and 12,000 words (80%).  The external examiner selected by the Course Coordinator will assess the minor thesis. The appointed supervisor will also provide a report. The Course Coordinator will use both these reports to determine a final mark for the student.
